Which of your experiences is called to mind as your teacher in this moment?

When we moved into our new home, it still had to be sided, and there was a HUGE pile of construction debris next to the house. It was unsightly. When I looked out the window toward Kinsman Ridge, a beautiful mountain view, the pile of debris was right there.

In that moment, I was reminded that I had the choice of noticing the pile of debris OR the gorgeous White Mountains behind it — or I could look out another window at Mount Lafayette.

I was also reminded that the pile of debris would only be there temporarily…

We proceeded to recycle what we could and cleaned away the remainder. The view of Kinsman Ridge is now unimpeded.

My teacher in that moment was a pile of construction debris. I’m grateful.
