How do we tend the fires of our personal and collective passions?

Passion is desire, a longing. When we fall in love, a spark of interest or attraction becomes a fire. Untamed and untended it burns itself out in messy ways.

Our personal passion is a desire to CREATE as a contribution only we can make to the Flow of all creation and destruction. It is our gift to all that is.

Collective passion most often manifests as political direction. It is in this realm that we individually feel least powerful when the tides of history flow against our passions and individually most powerful when there is alignment between our personal passion and the collective passion.

I tend the fires of my personal passions and my contribution to our collective passions by pausing to identify them with specificity. Are my longings in alignment with my ethics, or are my longings an echo of my Ego, my Knight in Shining Armor, attempting to resist change?

The truly ethical path is to train our passions to benefit EVERYONE, including ourselves... but not just ourselves or those who look like us or talk like us. EVERYONE. This requires grace.

May we all tend the fires of our passions with grace.
